Medical Tab So Far

Thank goodness for insurance.

I received a BC/BS Claim Statement yesterday. So far I've paid a $300 deductible for the hospital stay. But the charges made to BC/BS seemed outrageous. The grand tally so far is $15.5K. The surgery in Birmingham was charged by the bone. Each broken bone was $613 making the total 3K. The charge by the Huntsville doctor was listed as surgery, too, and also charged by the bone. Even though it had been discussed, I never had surgery . I think I'll talk to him about this on Monday, among many other things.

I also got my ER copay bill for $50. Not sure why I wasn't billed for that when we processed in.

A couple summers ago my son broke two bones in his arm. He had one visit to ER, a cast, and then a few follow-up visits. His tab came to $4300. Again, like I said, "I'm glad we're insured well".
